Pray for Our Brazil Team

For the last few years, PBF has sent team to Cuiabá, Brazil in partnership with Reaching & Teaching International Ministries (R&T). There, our teams have been a part of training local pastors and church leaders in a series of nine modules designed to equip them for more effective ministries by strengthening the head, the heart, and the hand.

This November 7–14, with the easing up of travel restrictions and the ability to gather students in country, we are in high-gear to complete our preparations to send another team to continue this work. This module will be focused on biblical counseling and family ministry with additional teaching on church finances and the spiritual discipline of silence and solitude.

As the team prepares to go, we will join in the work by praying for them?

TEACHING

R&T provide an outline for each module’s curriculum. It is up to each teacher to expand and fill-out the content for teaching. Extra care needs to be taken as they think through issues related to cross-cultural communication. Pray that the team's preparation would be marked by:

  • Humility.  Thus says the LORD: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?  All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the LORD.  But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word (Isa 66:1–2).

  • Wisdom.  God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me (Col 1:27–29).

  • Clarity. Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel . . . Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth (2 Tim 2:8, 15).

HEALTH

Covid and other health concerns could easily hinder the team’s ability to serve effectively. Pray that the trip would not be affected by:

  • Team Member Health. Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.  For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. (3 John 2–3).

  • Travel Restrictions. “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might.  He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding” (Daniel 2:20–21).
